History

The Lexus RX set new standards for the modern luxury utility vehicle when it was introduced. The original RX 300 pioneered the crossover style of an SUV based on a unibody car platform rather than a heavy-duty truck frame. Crossovers offer improved ride and handling. They offer more cargo room than a car, and also give the driver a better view over the traffic and a sense of security from an elevated driving position.

The original did all of those things, but the second-generation RX does them much better. Swift and silent, it rides more quietly than most cars, not to mention other SUVs. This year, Lexus will unveil the RX 400h, the first to come of many hybrid vehicles Lexus is currently developing. With revolutionary fuel-efficiency technology as well as part-time all-wheel drive, the RX 400h will be one of the most advanced cars available.

Overview

Lexus RX 330
The Lexus RX 330 was redesigned and introduced as an all-new model for 2004. Sleeker, more stylish and more powerful than the best-selling model it replaced, the RX 330 glides into its second season with added luxury.

The RX 330 provides a smooth ride, a plush and innovative interior, responsive power, and the confidence of optional all-wheel drive in winter weather. It rides like a car but offers a lot more room. The Lexus reputation for quality and reliability add considerably to its appeal.

Lexus RX 400h
The RX 400h is the first hybrid model developed by Lexus, so mistakes were expected. Surprisingly, the RX 400h left little room for improvement. First take a look at its self-sufficiency— it recovers energy wasted during deceleration and braking to feed the hybrid's battery. Then consider its 268-hp Total System Horsepower, which employs a pair of electric-drive motors to match the performance of a V8. All while meeting the most stringent global emissions directives.

Being that the RX 400h is a Lexus adds yet another telltale element: luxury. Fine leather, an available 11-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Audio System and a voice-activated Lexus DVD Navigation System top its extensive list. Indeed, perfection is just around the corner.
